#throwbackthursday: A figment of your imagination

I came across the above picture in the old Disney photo albums as I was looking for last weeks' #tbt content. From my very first trip to Disney World in the mid-80's, Figment was always my favorite character. I sang the "Imagination" song for hours and hours, days and days, weeks and weeks when I got home! And, of course, none of my friends who hadn't been to Disney World had any idea what I was talking about because Figment didn't have a show or movie! (and the internet hadn't been invented!)

"One Little Spark"

One little spark, of inspiration
Is at the heart, of all creation.
Right at the start, of everything that's new.
One little spark, lights up for you.

Two tiny wings, eyes big and yellow.
Horn of a steer, but a lovable fellow.
From head to tail, he's royal purple pigment.
And there, Viola!, you've got a Figment!

We all have sparks, imaginations.
That's how our minds, create creations.
For they can make, our wildest dreams come true.
Those magic sparks, in me and you.

Imagination, imagination.
A dream, can be a dream come true.
With just that spark, in me and you.

I recently saw the new Figment comics and was really excited for my fav character to get some more attention!  I'll have to keep my fingers crossed that someone puts them under the Christmas tree for me this year!

When we took the kids in 2011 I was really surprised by the redesigned Imagination ride. I'm glad that Figment and Imagination still have a presence in the park, and the design of the queue is gorgeous, but the revised ride doesn't have quite the same spirit that I fell in love with as a kid, you know what I mean? I was excited to find footage of the old experience online (thank you, internet!) so at least it's not lost forever!

What do you think? Do you vote for vintage Figment, or modern Figment?
