New Years Resolutions! And 2015 sneak peeks....

Happy New Years to all of you! I wanted to take a moment and thank you for taking the time in your busy lives to read my little blog. I get pretty excited every time my phone pings me that someone has left a message or that I have a new follower! It’s such a thrill!  I’m delighted that there are folks out there with similar interests, and that some of you have found my crafts // stories // trip tips helpful!

Now, for an apology: I’m sorry for being a terrible blogger! It’s been weeks since my last post. I had a bunch of fun things planned but I just could not find the time with the holidays to sit down and get them written up and published. I’m new to this whole thing and I’ve been pretty surprised at the amount of time it actually takes to put a post together (when I started this project I estimated it would take 20-30 minutes to do a post, but in reality its more like 2-3 hours! Possibly because I am slow and my photo files are chronically disorganized….)

Just a peek into what’s been going on in the PrincessRants house…. The first week of December was my husband’s 40th birthday and we threw him a big party with lots of balloons! His birthday wish was for there NOT to be any holiday decorations up and so that put us pretty far behind on our house decorating. We had just one week to transition from birthday party to big holiday party, including decorating a 14ft tree (yes, you read that right: a gigantic tree is my one gift to myself every year! Because we have cathedral ceilings in our Florida room and therefor MUST HAVE GIGANTIC TREE!)

We enjoyed local events like the Greenfield Village Holiday nights and the Detroit Zoo lights walk, and even Facetiming with Santa! Then, Christmas came.  I will do my very best to post about the handmade gifts we found this year to be out “elf” made presents…. Some of you had been asking a few weeks back but I just didn’t have the opportunity to put the post together (and I was a bit nervous that my girls might see said post before the big day) so I hope you will understand when some Christmas posts appear in the next few weeks. If you like handmade gifts, though, I'm sure you'll want to be sure to check them out even though they're tardy--- never too early to start thinking about next Christmas, right? :-)

New Years Eve was my daughter's first trip to the theater (to see Wicked!) as well as our FastPass+ reservation date (at 1AM!) and I have lots of thoughts to share about that experience! Oh, and the released a new version of the standard Elsa costume and a new Deluxe Anna travelling costume… plus, there’s been some rumors/leaked photos of new Cinderella costumes to accompany the March release of the new live-action Cinderella movie…. So much to write about!!!

In the next few weeks we will be having:

  • Eva’s 4th birthday party: Mermaid Theme (Early February)
  • A big trip to Disney World! (March)
  • Viola’s 7th birthday party: theme TBD (Early April)

Needless to say I will be busy for the next few weeks throwing a mermaid party (I literally just started the pinterest planning this morning, because I’d thought I’d be able to weasel out of throwing this party what with a Disney trip two weeks later but… alas, my younger daughter is ready to have her first EVER birthday party and will not be bribed out of it! (trust me, I’ve tried!) … Not to mention preparing for our Disney trip: there’s still so much to do!

Speaking of, I wanted to share with you a sneak peek of what I’ve been up to so you don’t think I’m being a complete slacker… I'm currently finishing up Harry Potter inspired sundresses for our visit to Universal, Star Wars themed outfits that came about because my daughters are often compared to R2D2 and C3P0 (because the older one tends to translate for the younger ones squeals and gibberish), and Tremaine Sister dresses to wear to our dinner at 1900 Park Fare!

I haven't posted about them yet because they're all still Work-in-Progresses, but needless to say I’ve got lots of upcycled costume posts to write for you in the near future, assuming I manage to get them done in time for our trip! I hope you will keep checking back even if the posts between now and April get a bit sporadic! I guess being better about posting on time will have to be my New Years Resolution!
